AP560 Images of Religion in Modern Literature (2)
Great literature offers profound insights into the ideas and values of a culture. Through the novels of authors such as Sinclair Lewis, Aldous Huxley, Evelyn Waugh, Eudora Welty, John Updike, E. M. Forster, and Toni Morrison modern attitudes to God and religion will be explored. The course will focus on reading and discussing one or two novels per week. Mr. Godfrey.
AP601 The Modern Mind (3)
The dominant perspectives, individuals, theologies, ideologies, and cultural transformations which have contributed to the current religious landscape and context for outreach. With special focus on the implications for ministry and outreach, this course will attempt to provide greater familiarity with current trends in both the academy and popular culture. Prereq., ST501. Spring semester. Mr. Horton.
