On June 2, 2007, WSC hosted the
Twenty-sixth Annual Commencement at New Life Presbyterian Church
in Escondido, CA. We sent forth 34 graduates to serve as
faithful ministers for our churches, teachers for our schools,
and missionaries for our world.
Our very own Dr. Hywel R. Jones, Professor
of Practical Theology, gave an encouraging address entitled “By
the Grace of God I Am What I Am”, based on the text of I
Corinthians 15:1-11. In addition, special guest participants
included: The Rev. Kyu Sam Huan, Senior Pastor of Segaero
Presbyterian Church; The Rev. Timothy A. Kuperus, Pastor of
Worship and Youth at Friendship Christian Reformed Church; and
The Rev. Donald Treick, Honorably Retired Teaching Elder of the
Presbyterian Church in America. More than 590 family members,
friends and guests celebrated this wonderful occasion with us.
On Friday night, June 1, graduates,
families and friends enjoyed the Graduation Reception held on
campus. Guests and graduates enjoyed hilarious and heartfelt
speeches from graduates Ted Beglin, Brannan Ellis, Andrew
Compton, Robert M. Godfrey, Joel Treick, and Clay Werner. In
addition, WSC President Dr. W. Robert Godfrey delivered the
president’s charge to the graduates. The Graduating Class of
2007 presented a generous check to President Godfrey and the
Seminary for new blinds in the Reference Room of the Library.
The evening also included special cello music, a fabulous
dessert reception and a slide show capturing some of the images,
friendships, and special memories from the graduates’ time at
WSC. |
