Appointment of Joshua J. Van Ee to assistant professor of Old Testament

(Escondido, California) - Westminster Seminary California is pleased to announce the appointment of Joshua J. Van Ee, M.Div., M.A., as assistant professor of Old Testament, effective July 1, 2007.

Mr. Van Ee is a graduate of Geneva College (B.A., 1999) and Westminster Seminary California (M.Div., 2002). He has been pursuing the Ph.D. at the University of California, San Diego, in Ancient History with a focus on the Ancient Near East (having achieved an M.A. from UCSD in 2006). He recently successfully completed his comprehensive exams and was advanced to candidacy for the degree. He projects the completion of his dissertation in 2008-9.

Mr. Van Ee has taught part-time for WSC since 2002, having previously served us as a teaching assistant during his M.Div. studies. Students' evaluations of his instruction in the courses that he has taught here are excellent.

He is a candidate for the ministry of the Word and Sacrament in the United Reformed Churches, and is qualified to be called and ordained now that he has been appointed to this position of service in theological and pastoral education.

The OT Search Committee recommended Mr. Van Ee's appointment after an extensive search and review of the credentials of approximately 25 other potential candidates. The president, faculty, and board of trustees have a unanimous and strong conviction that Mr. Van Ee is the colleague whom the Lord has been preparing to labor with us here full-time in the teaching of Hebrew and of the Old Testament Scriptures that promise the coming and redemptive work of Jesus the Christ.

We thank God for his leading as we anticipate many years of fruitful fellowship in service to Christ with Mr. Van Ee, his wife Heidi, and their children.
