Special Lectures with Dr. Guy Prentiss Waters
Dr. Guy Prentiss Waters, associate professor of New Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary (Jackson, MS), was on campus on March 13 to deliver this semester’s faculty-sponsored convocation lecture. His presentation was entitled “Back To the Future: Reflections on an ‘Emerging’ Reading of Jesus and the Kingdom.” Addressing WSC faculty, staff, students, and visitors, Dr. Waters discussed certain recent trends in popular literature on the Gospels and the Kingdom of God. Prof. Waters also offered pastoral insight as to how those in Reformed churches might helpfully interact and respond to the issues raised in this context.

In the evening lecture as part of the Pauline Epistles course, Prof. Waters taught on “Two Adams, Two Covenants, Two Righteousnesses–Getting a Handle on Romans.” Prof. Waters helped students navigate the epistle of Romans by looking at two critical passages of Rom 5:12-21 and 10:5-8, sharing insights from his recent work on the Mosaic Law and Pauline Theology.
