Join Us in Celebrating What Your Generosity Made Possible

Westminster Seminary California’s Student Housing Project Fully Funded

In 2025, the Lord has been exceedingly gracious to Westminster Seminary California. Thanks to the faithful generosity of our donors, the student housing project is not only fully completed, but paid in full as of May 2025. This milestone stands as a testimony to God’s provision and to the partnership of those who believe deeply in the mission of preparing men and women for faithful service to Christ and his Church.

A Vision Long in the Making

The path to creating a residential community just steps from our campus has been a long and prayerful one. In 2014, a gift of nearly 9.5 acres adjacent to the seminary doubled the campus footprint and opened the door to an ambitious vision: a housing village where students and their families could experience life together in a community of faith.

In Southern California, where the cost of living is often prohibitive, affordable housing close to campus is a necessity.  From the beginning, this project was not merely for housing students, but as a means of removing barriers so that theological education might be possible for all who desire it.

The residential village was constructed in phases beginning in 2018. The original development consisted of multiple buildings housing 64 apartments, including one, two, and three-bedroom units. This space quickly became home to students and their families from around the world who formed a community.

As demand continued to grow, plans for expanding the village took shape. A new residential building was added, bringing the total housing units to 72. This expansion increased the seminary’s ability to house even more students affordably, especially in the face of rising rental costs across Southern California. This expansion made it possible for 100% of this year’s incoming class to be housed on campus.

Yet the true impact of the Village cannot be measured in numbers alone. Students consistently speak of the rich fellowship that has defined life there:

“I feel truly known and loved by many of my classmates. The Village has been an absolute game-changer. I am living next to, and doing life with, lifelong ministry partners.”

Life in the Village has fostered daily rhythms of hospitality and fellowship—shared meals, long conversations, prayer, time around the fire pit, and gatherings of families and friends. For many students, this community made seminary not only possible, but deeply formative.

“Perhaps one of the most significant strengths of WSC … lies in the strong community that is found here. I am extremely grateful for the friendships that I have made in the last few years. The Village especially has been an enormous benefit and provided a uniquely immersive educational experience that allowed us to approach our studies in a rich and supportive community. The long talks around the fire, the parties and BBQs, and the nights spent at friends’ houses all created deep and lasting memories.”

For students with families, the Village has been a place of refuge and mutual care:

“Living among fellow believers, united in faith and purpose, was a foretaste of God’s kingdom. We knew and trusted our neighbors, sharing life in a way that strengthened us all. Fellowship was constant, even amidst the demands of study, as we gathered to pray, discuss, debate, study, and grow together. For my wife, a new mother, this community was a sanctuary. She found godly women—young mothers like her—who shared her convictions and offered wisdom and support. Their care sustained her, teaching her the joys and challenges of motherhood in a Christ-centered home. Our children thrived in this safe haven, playing freely with friends under the watchful eyes of trusted neighbors. Living among other students sparked countless conversations— on theology, ministry, family, and life—that sharpened my mind and stirred my soul. Proximity to the seminary was a practical blessing, easing financial strains when vehicles were scarce and allowing me to be present for my wife and children. We leaned on neighbors for childcare, knowing our little ones were in loving, faithful hands. Watching our children play together, carefree and joyful, felt like a glimpse of a simpler time, almost like an old film of times in which neighbors trusted each other.”

Others highlight the everyday blessings of life in the Village:

“I loved the housing and the closeness of the community of the Village, the people you meet and the friends you make, and the constant theological conversations you can find anywhere. I truly enjoyed interacting with all of my classmates and getting to know the professors on a deep level.”

“The logistics of living in the village and attending WSC are all great. The housing is extremely inexpensive and really nice. It’s great to live on campus; it’s managed well, and it fosters community to have many of the students live near each other.”

The Generosity That Made It Possible

From the earliest planning stages through the final students moving in, this project has been sustained by a wide network of donors who committed to investing in the future of gospel ministry. Their generosity not only made the housing possible—it eliminated the entire debt of the housing project.

This achievement reflects a profound partnership in ministry: every gift given was a vote of confidence in our mission and in the men and women preparing for faithful service to Christ’s church.

To every donor, friend, and supporter—thank you! Your generosity has helped lay a foundation that will strengthen this community for years to come. Because of your partnership, more students can live, learn, pray, and prepare for a lifetime of gospel ministry in a place they proudly call home. As we look to the future, we hope to be a place where students from around the world can come and receive a rich theological education with little to no debt. We thank our donors and friends whose faithful generosity is helping us remove financial barriers to ministry training.
