Class of 2011
What work or ministries have you been involved with since graduation?
Translating theological materials/resources/books from English to Japanese
I am currently working for Ligonier Ministries, Solid Joy (daily devotional podcast by John Piper), also working on several books at the moment.
A wife to a wonderful husband, and a mom of three boys.
How has your seminary education been valuable in your current vocation (or any vocation since graduation)? Has it been valuable in ways you weren’t expecting?
Having a degree from WSC definitely gives me credibility in translation work.
While studying in seminary, I appreciated a wide range of books and resources and realized that these are not available in the same quantity and at the same level in theological education in Japan, and I am committed to filling this gap as much as I can even a small bit.
What would you say to a woman who is currently considering seminary education at WSC?
I’d say go for it! It should be a luxurious 2-3 years of immersing yourself in God’s word and study of the Bible. And it’s wonderful to have a foundation in theology; once you become a wife and a mom, your own family is such a special ministry field. I struggled because my degree did not become useful immediately after I graduated. It took me 5-6 years before I finally started my translation career (being a mom is busy). But God knows your path and he will make your study useful in his time.
On January 23–24, WSC invites Christians from every walk of life to join us for two days of biblical teaching, encouragement, and refreshment.
